Julie and Dan Tie The Knot

Julie and Dan’s wedding day was a gorgeous affair with sunshine, emotion, lots of fun and a few surprises too! After a sweet, tearful meeting with Julie’s dad, after he saw her in her dress for the first time, there was the beautiful ceremony in St. Boniface Catholic Church. Then, the wedding party made their […]

Nice and full of life pictures. Wonderful wedding, inspiring.

Catherine and Greg’s Wedding

Catherine and Greg were married outdoors at the beautiful Riverwalk in Jasper, IN. The rain teased us all day, so Catherine did a pre-wedding, non- rain dance with her cute pink umbrella and it worked! The sun came out for the ceremony and it was clear for the rest of the day. The nearby Jasper City Mill […]

Nice job, Miss Jeannie! My favourite is the one with the pink parasol (or is it an umbrella?)

Love her emotion in that ceremony shot! Great job!

Main Street Swing: Mindy and Chad’s Engagement Session

Downtown Evansville is a popular spot that many of my couples choose as the setting for their engagement sessions. There are so many great places to shoot, just within walking distance. Mindy and Chad met me on Main St. and we walked around & ducked into an alley or two for a cool photo. The shoot […]

Downtown “Flare”: Whitney and Tyson’s Engagement Session

I met Whitney and Tyson in downtown Evansville on a lovely Sunday evening to take some photos around downtown and the riverfront. There are endless little places/alleys/doorways to get great shots with an “urban Evansville” feel to them. At the very end of the session we caught the low, golden light of the setting sun–beautiful! […]

Kerri and Brett’s Wedding at St. Joseph Church

St. Joseph Catholic Church on Evansville’s West side was the beautiful setting for Kerri and Brett’s wedding ceremony. I have always loved the robin’s egg blue color of church walls. The church steeple is so tall, I had to lie on the ground to get in all in a photo!Kerri and her family made hundreds of […]

Spring Awakening: Raven and Jesse’s Engagement Session

It was a lovely day for an engagement session (or “e-session” for short, or “e-sesh” for even shorter) at Audubon Park. Raven and Jesse donned their colorful, spring-y garb and we hiked around the park, stopping now and then to capture them chatting and cuddling–even over the trunk of Raven’s cool car! Thanks for a […]

Ashley and Jess Marry At The Old Courthouse…

Evansville’s Old Courthouse was the scene for the wedding and reception of Ashley and Jess. The timeless (restored!) elegance of the building served as a lovely backdrop for this special event. Ashley did all the flowers and decor herself–I thought it looked like a professional job! Ashley’s 2 bridesmaids and Jess’s sister are also called […]

Fun and Fortune: New Business Cards for Equinox

Thought I’d have a little fun creating my latest set of business cards. Each has a different fortune on the front and my company info is on the back. I found the text for them from fortunes that I had collected (saved those little papers) and some I just made up! These Mini Cards are […]

Wellies and Pink Turtlenecks: Maggie and Chris’s Engagement Session

I met Maggie and Chris at Evansville’s Central Library to shoot their fun-filled engagement session. During our initial consultation, I told Chris that I would give him $5 if he showed up to the session in a pink turtleneck–as you can see, I do, in fact, owe him a fiver. These two have personality to […]

Happy Mardi Bras!

On Valentine’s Day, I donated my photography services to the Mardi Bras: Support Can Be Beautiful benefit for the Evansville Aids Resource Group. The event was held at Evansville’s Casino Aztar Conference Center. I was lucky enough to have time with each model and did a “mini photo session” to illustrate each of the bras […]

Arlund/Zettl Workshop: Nashville, TN

I had the pleasure of attending the very first workshop co-presented by Chuck Arlund and Stephanie Zettl. It was a fast paced, informative day with discussions and slideshows in the morning, then practical application of lighting techniques in the afternoon. We talked about what inspires and motivates us as photographers to produce memorable images for […]

Got Legacy? An Open Letter To Brides-To-Be

Do you have any idea what you’re doing? We need to talk, get a cup of coffee and read on… See the couple in the image above? They were married a LONG time ago. Back in the days where, when you got married, they took one photo. One. These two probably had a lot of […]

What a great article Jeannie!

Really hits home how important wedding photographs can be for future generations.

Thanks.

Scott.

zofia - January 16, 2010 - 9:33 am

Beautiful article, Jeannie. Very inspiring. Thanks for posting!

Angie Abbott - January 17, 2010 - 2:36 pm

I would like to say Jeannie is a dear friend of mine and the most amazing photographer I have ever seen, I chose years ago to have Jeannie as my Bridesmaid in my wedding rather than my photographer. Although I don’t regret for a minute her being in my wedding because I love her dearly. I do regret not having her as my photographer, I went the cheap route and got burned, my photographer picked up and moved out of state after my wedding and I had to take him to court to get the pictures I ordered and paid for because he had lost my pictures. It all turned out well in the end I did get my pictures, but most were not what I has asked for and were not well done. So if I had to do it all again, Jeannie and Equinox Photography would and always will be my first choice for photographs. Jeannie you are amazing.

Jeannie - January 18, 2010 - 11:04 am

Thank you, Scott, Zofia and Angie. And Angie, it was an honor to stand up with you on your wedding day. I remember being pretty angry for you when your photographer didn’t deliver your photos and you had to go through all that craziness to get them.

One thing I’d like to recommend to couples is that it is totally ok to ask for references from your wedding photographer. That way, you can hear from their past clients and how they felt about their experience.

Kate - January 20, 2010 - 10:50 am

Great post, Jeannie. And I am in LOVE with that final image. Gorgeous!

Mystic, CT Model Shoot Workshop

I had the pleasure of taking a trip to Mystic, CT for, Mystic 5, three days of photography seminars, hosted by Walter van Dusen. Here are my favorite images from a model shoot that I participated in with the ShootStyle crowd. I had a blast and will most likely be back next year!
